Welcome to West Ascent Psychiatry

At West Ascent Psychiatry, we are especially passionate about and focused on serving children, adolescents, and young adults.

This focus is rooted in a deep-seated belief in early intervention. We know that childhood and adolescence are periods of intense neuroplasticity—a time when the brain is most adaptable and receptive to change. By addressing challenges like ADHD, anxiety, academic stress, or mood disorders early, we don't just manage symptoms; we help young people build essential coping mechanisms and a strong mental health foundation for life.

At West Ascent Psychiatry, our services are designed not just to manage symptoms, but to empower you or your child to build lifelong mental wellness. We believe in a collaborative, trauma-informed approach that treats the whole person, not just a diagnosis.

We offer a focused, evidence-based approach to mental healthcare, blending careful evaluation with proactive, ongoing management.

Benzodiazepine Policy

Your safety is our priority, and we are committed to being a resource for safety planning. We generally do not prescribe benzodiazepines but can assist patients who are already on them with a safe weaning process. Benzodiazepines carry serious risks such as dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal, making long-term use challenging. They cause sedation that may lead to memory problems, poor coordination, falls, and accidents, particularly in older adults. Additionally, they slow breathing, which can be dangerous when combined with opioids or alcohol. Due to these risks we offer alternative treatment options for anxiety and related conditions.
